New Vancouver Foundation President and CEO visits the Boundary
The PF Board had the privilege of meeting with the new Vancouver Foundation President and CEO, Faye Wightman, on August 3, 2006. Grand Forks was one of her many stops as she toured the Province, visiting Community Foundations in rural and urban
areas. She is proud of the fact that the Vancouver Foundation serves the entire province of British Columbia. Locally, the Phoenix Foundation has enjoyed and benefited from a special relationship with the Vancouver Foundation. Faye Wightman was raised in Creston, BC. She learned the importance of community at an early age as volunteering was considered the norm in her family.
She maintains that she gained a strong sense that this is what people do to ensure a healthy community. Today, Faye Wightman is considered one of BC's most accomplished and respected fundraising professionals. A recipient of Business in Vancouver's 2004 Influential Women in Business, Wightman enjoyed outstanding success during her 14 years as President of BC's Children's Hospital Foundation and was most recently Vice President of External Relations at the University of Victoria. The Phoenix Foundation and the Boundary have benefited from a variety of LEAD programs with the Vancouver Foundation and we look forward to maintaining our partnership far into the future.
The Phoenix Foundation is an ideal choice for the donor who would like to make a long term difference. All donations are placed in a permanent endowment and prudently invested.
Phoenix Foundation strives for the highest standards of stewardship, accountability and transparency.
On February 17th, Barbara Oates McMillan of the Community Foundations of Canada led the Directors and Advisors of the Phoenix Foundation through a review of all Phoenix Foundation's policies and operations.
